Work Party....Not Enough of those around

Today was another fabulous day. A trip to the NW coast of Mull.......to one of the most beautiful places in the world, Calgary Bay. The day was warm, with a bit of cloud cover, which was much appreciated from the sunburn perspective. Had gone to participate in a "work party", which we thought entailed a beach clean. But was more a "mow the lawn and fix the fire pits" type of party. We were given some plastic bags and proceeded to walk along the beach picking up rubbish. It is amazing how our eyes are trained not to see garbage, but when you start looking for it, it's everywhere! After walking to the other end of the beach, some fun and games were ordered. Eventually the call came in for swimming and us brave souls proceeded into the what many would say are Arctic waters (once numb, its quite pleasant really). Shrieks were occasionally heard when a crab or flat-fish was stepped on and to solve that problem, I finally dived under the glassy surface. Eventually floated back to shore, this time my hand uncovering a crab in the sand and young boy now had a new pet. After drying off and warming up, cleaned up the beach a bit more, when the sudden attack of the midges (bloody bugs) brought the afternoon at the beach to a close. A lovely drive back to Tobermory and a relaxing evening at home, a load laundry, a home cooked meal, and "Top Gear".

The simple pleasure of hanging out the laundry to dry, on a quiet evening and hearing the voices of those I love (several thousands of miles away) on the phone, reminds me how important it is to stay connected.
