Today was another wonderful day on Silurian. We had a late morning and sailed away from Crossapol Bay, Coll-along the east of Gunna and Tiree. Got a bit disappointed when we were sailing through "shark city" we hadn't seen any. Finally, SIGHTING! A few basking sharks were seen quite close to the boat and I even saw one making a full breach in the distance. I can't imagine a huge shark leaping clear out of the water anywhere near by, I mean who wants a flying shark in close proximity? We then changed coarse and crossed some unsheltered water, which tended to be very rolling, but the weather proved decent. Nothing else except seabirds and a few seals seen the rest of the day. For the night we anchored in a a lovely bay at the isle of Oronsay, next to Colonsay. Gorgeous view of Jura & Islay in the distance. After supper, a trip ashore was in order and many interesting things seen, like seagulls overhead, rabbits, sheep, cows, greylag geese and goslings, and Canadian geese. Also a stunning crescent sand beach with new types of interesting shells. Its amazing the different shells and stuff you will find on different beaches, even in a relatively small geographic area. Another gorgeous evening in the Hebrides. Music and tea before bed, and a much earlier night at the end of this day.
