I am going to be in Glasgow this weekend and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to do and what to see.
The only thing on my list at the moment is the Kelvingrove Museum.

Glasgow Cathedral is nice. The Burrell Collection is good, too. Take a look at our pictures and maybe you'll see something?

ReplyDeleteI am going to Glasgow to pick up my Mum at the airport and spend the weekend seeing the sights of Glasgow. I have been thru Glasgow several times, but haven't really explored, so was just hoping for some ideas. Thanks for sharing yours!

ReplyDeleteSince it's you and your Mom, you might enjoy the Glasgow CraftMafia event at Mono. Mono's is a sort of hip alternative restaurant -- it's very friendly, but the service was sloooow when we were there our first year. It's under new management, so it's allegedly much better. Food's good, vegan/veggie/pub/drinks. Also they have a stage, and live music at night, and the crafters have fourteen stalls -- lots of stash.
The SECC at Finneston Quay is hosting Girls Day Out all weekend long which is basically a health/beauty fair for women. Lots of freebies and more stuff to buy; it always costs a little something to get in, but they do send you away with samples, I think.
A bit of a more twiggy outing (and I think this might require a car, as it's on the outskirts of town) is the Aberfoyle Mushroom Festival. It's basically all foodie, with cooking and tasting and a guided fungi walk. Might be a bit much, though, as it's set to rain most of the weekend.

Had a great weekend. Glasgow Cathedral, the Necropolis, St. Mungo's Musuem, Kelvingrove, Burrell Collection. Lots of walking thru parks and around town.
