Today I went on a Geology hike, party of 3, to the Tayvallich Peninsula. Some magnificent examples of "pillow" lavas and how complex a single location's geological history can be! Saw rocks that were 600 million years old!
Holy cows, walking on water.
Last night it was clouds and high winds, but this morning the weather cooperated as the sun made an appearance as we started up the hard climb up over the mountain, and it stayed the rest of the day. Beautiful autumn colors everywhere and wonderful views over to the Sound of Jura to the isle of Jura.
On the way back we stopped in the Kilmartin Glen to see some of the most important sites of Neolithic and Bronze Age remains in Scotland, such as standing stones and cairns. Also crossed over the Crinan Canal.
Had a great time exploring a new part of Scotland I had never seen.
Wore my new wellies today. My feet were dry, but the boots are not good for serious hiking.
